My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was really my first time reading someone’s memoir, and I was hooked from the first page. Mr Davis starts off from one of his earliest childhood memories and it was heartbreaking, it was one of his father pointing a gun at his mothers head, and the memories just went down hill from there. So much anger, yelling, mental abuse from the hands of his father. Finally his parents divorce and you kinda pray that his mother will move on to someone better but her next husband his a vet with ptsd, and smokes pot and is abusive to her and to her sons, the cycle still continues, you seriously have to wonder how Mr Davis and his brother can keep handling this cycle and grow into monsters themselves or follow down the same path of destruction the men that have been brought into their lives go down. I was was in tears reading some parts of this book, it hurt to see/read what happened to him, what happened to his mother, nobody should have to go through that.
